Master of Arts in Sustainable Tourism Management

Students in the English language Master of Arts Programme Sustainable Tourism Management deal intensively with the future orientation of an industry which has seen enormous expansion over many years and now obtain the expert knowledge which is essential for management positions all over the world.

Sustainability as a specialization

Hereby, the aspect of sustainability in tourism represents a particular core subject. More and more today's holidaymakers are not only booking the cheapest hotel and want their own familiar cuisine, but now place particular value on getting to know destinations where the landscape and resources have not been destroyed for years to come or have been wasted by touristic development in the region. The focus is now diverted from personal benefit to that of the inhabitants at the holiday destination.

Not only small and medium-sized companies are reacting to this changed demand but increasingly also the larger tourism concerns. This is why in the lectures and seminars the Master students at the Cologne Business School are confronted - among other things - with the aspects of ethics, responsibility and sustainability in tourism.

Master of Arts in four semesters

The study course is only conducted in English and includes one other foreign language. This is the foundation which will enable you to work anywhere in the world after your studies and bring in your expert knowledge. The study course lasts four semesters whereby the final semester is dedicated to writing your thesis which should highlight a very particular aspect of the topic of tourism. Your study course is completed on reaching 120 ECTS credits. This not only creates excellent career prospects for you in a growth market but also the prerequisites for a doctorate.
