Your semester abroad at the Cologne Business School

Students from a foreign university have the unique opportunity to complete their semester abroad in the lively metropolis of Cologne. More than 2000 years' history and a population of more than one million, Cologne is the fourth largest city in Germany. Moreover, Cologne lies in the heart of Europe: The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg are literally just around the corner. Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris can be reached quickly by train at the weekend.

Entry requirements

In order to complete a semester abroad at our university, you should have a very good command of English (TOEFL or IELTS if English is not your native language) and have successfully completed at least one academic year (two semesters) of an economics degree course at a state-recognised university before starting studies at the CBS. Please observe that we recommend early applications due to a restricted number of places. Applications will be assessed based on your academic achievements and your career goals. Participants can select specified courses from the second and third study years with a value of up to 30 ECTS.

15. May for the winter semester
15. November for the summer semester

Tuition fees 

Exchange students nominated by their home university pay no tuition fees.

EU citizens pay tuition fees to the order of €4170 which cover the teaching costs and materials.

Non-EU citizens pay tuition fees to the order of €4770, which cover the teaching costs and materials required.

An additional fee of approx. €100 is incurred by all students for purchasing a semester ticket which is simultaneously valid as a student's card and a season ticket for all public transport in and around Cologne (VRS region).
