Application to study at the CBS

In a few steps you arrive at a bachelor's degree at the Cologne Business School. Below we explain the requirements and how to apply. Information about the application process for international students you can find here.


The admission requirement for studying at the Cologne Business School is secondary school completion and university qualification or full entrance qualification to an applied sciences university. Equivalent qualifications from schools abroad are recognised accordingly. You can apply to our university throughout the year. In as far as no school leaving certificate is available, the previous report can be submitted. Please observe that you may only start your studies in the winter semester.   

Your application documents:

• A completed application form
• Your CV in tabular format
• Copies of your latest school report, the school leaving certificate 
• A letter of motivation
• Two passport photos: one photo on paper and one digital photo in JPG format.

Moreover, for admission to the degree courses International Business, International Culture and Management and International Tourism Management you are required to provide proof of English language skills. You can furnish proof by taking the Cologne Business School language test within the scope of our assessment centre. Alternatively we accept the following certificates: TOEFL certificate (at least 83 points Internet-based) or IELTS (at least volume 6). The tests must not be older than two years. English skills are also assumed for the "General Management" degree course and they are established through a grading test on one of our assessment days. However, as the study language is German, it is not necessary that TOEFL level is achieved.

After we receive your application, our employees in the admissions office then check your documents and invite you to an assessment centre if required. Your capability to study is tested here in an oral and written examination section.

Once you have completed the assessment centre successfully, you will receive an offer for a place in the course from the Cologne Business School. In order to secure your place in the course at our university, you must confirm it within a predefined period.
