Human Resources Management
Within the Human Resources Management research cluster, the chairs for "Human Resources and Management" (Prof. Dr. Anja Karlshaus), "Business Psychology" (Dr. Maja Hartung) and "East Asia Economics" (Prof. Dr. Anke Scherer) collaborate closely. The latest scientific knowledge and practical best practice experience, above all management-related topics from the areas of "International and Intercultural Management" (emphasis on East Asia), "Sustainable Human Resources Management" and "Systemic Management" are covered here.
The focus of the scientific activities is in so-called applied research in 2011/2012. With the involvement of Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts students (term papers and conducting qualitative interviews), scientifically based recommended actions are worked out and discussed and evaluated within the course of executive management training. During the period named, some 10 - 15 executive training sessions in the banking and insurance sector on the topic of "Sustainable Human Resources Management" and "Part-time Management" will be held and organised by Prof. Dr. Karlshaus together with a personnel consultancy (PBB, Berlin). Furthermore, in cooperation special "Intercultural Training for Expatriates" (focused on China, Japan and Korea) are held together with external trainers and have already been held successfully by the Dean Prof. Dr. Anke Scherer for several years, providing valuable input for the cultural research of East Asia. Finally, a further executive training is planned in collaboration with a medium-sized company from the region in 2012 where in addition to Prof. Dr. Scherer and Prof. Dr. Karlshaus also all the remaining CBS research clusters will be involved. The topical focus there will be on "Intercultural Competence Expansion" as well as on the establishment of a sustainable management structure.
In addition to this cooperation with practitioners, the members of the Human Resources Management research cluster are also represented in scientific networks and in committees, through which valuable research input and exchange with other institutes result. As the advisor of the "Institute for German-Brazilian Cooperation" (TH Wildau), Prof. Dr. Anja Karlshaus has planned research collaboration with universities from Brazil and common series of publications on the topic of "Sustainable Human Resources Work in Brazil and Germany – a comparison". In the Supervisory Board function for "PBB Personalberatung Berlin" [PBB Human Resources Consultancy Berlin], common empiric research cooperation with the FH Berlin [University of Applied Sciences Berlin] and the TH Wildau [Technical University of Wildau] on the topic of "Part-time Management – one form of sustainable management". For this purpose, since 2011 some 50-100 part-time managers are posed questions annually regarding their situation.
Finally, the research cluster can refer to a series of implemented or planned publications in 2011/2012. Prof. Maja Hartung will conclude a project on the topic of "Systemic Management" and is planning publications in the area of business psychology. An article worked on by Prof. Dr. Karlshaus with CBS students on the topic of "Organisational Structures as a Basis for Sustainable Action – an empirical DAX 30 analysis" has been published by the Fördergesellschaft Produktmarketing e.V. for the CBS publications series. A further article by Prof. Dr. Karlshaus on the subject of "Part-time Management" is planned for Human Resources. The empirical results of the research collaboration with the TH Wildau will be published jointly there. Prof. Dr. Anke Scherer is working on the preparation and publication of a Japan Etiquette for Expatriates which will incorporate experience from the intercultural training.
